Cian O Duill began his viola studies in 1990 at the Cork School of Music and in 1999 graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London. In 2003 he graduated from the University of Limerick with an MA Performance degree, having spent a year studying with Professor Bruno Giurana.

Cian was a founder member of the Regent String Quartet who were appointed the first ensemble in residence in Worcestershire in 2000. He has performed with the Vanbrugh, Carducci and Callino String Quartets, Ensemble Avalon, Chroma and The Crash Ensemble. He has appeared at Cheltenham, Warwick Arts, Chichester, Aldeburgh, Wye Valley, Temenos '08 and West Cork Chamber Music Festivals.

Cian is a former member of the Rothko String Trio who made their debut at the Shannon International Music Festival in 2003. In 2005 they made their South Bank debut, playing in the Park Lane Group concert series at the Purcell Room. He is also a member of the Chamber Players, a London based string sextet with whom he has recorded music by Mozart and Brahms.

Concerto appearances include works by Bach, Telemann, Mozart, Bruch and Hindemith in Ireland, the UK and Spain.

Cian is a member of both the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.
