Cellist Erica Wise enjoys a varied career as chamber musician, soloist and orchestral musician. As winner of the 2000 Nakamichi Cello Competition, she performed the Dvorak Concerto at the Aspen Music Festival with maestro Michael Stern. Other solo appearances have included the Walton Concerto with the NEC Symphony Orchestra in Jordan Hall, and the Saint Saens Concerto with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic under maestro Keith Lockhart.

As a chamber musician she has performed throughout the United States giving recitals in Jordan Hall and the Gardner Museum in Boston, performing for WGBH of Boston, and for CNN in Atlanta. A founding member of the Scheherazade Trio, Ms. Wise performed in France, Spain, England and in the U.S. Past summers have included performances at Kneisel Hall, Great Lakes, Tanglewood, Yellow Barn, IMS Prussia Cove and Aspen Music Festivals. As an orchestral musician, Ms. Wise has toured with the New World Symphony and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and has served as principal cellist for conductors such as Michael Tilson Thomas and Seiji Ozawa.

Ms. Wise began her musical studies at the age of five, and started the cello at the age of nine while living in Gottingen, Germany. She graduated from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University studying with Ronald Thomas. She went on to complete a Masters Degree at the New England Conservatory studying with Colin Carr, Larry Lesser and Gary Hoffman. As a recipient of the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship from the Fondation des Etats-Unis, Ms. Wise studied baroque cello with David Simpson at the Conservatoire National de Region de Paris. She currently lives in Barcelona, Spain.
