Award winning Irish violinist Maria Ryan is currently based in Cologne, where she has recently graduated with First Class Honours from the Hochschule fur Musik Koln, in the class of the distinguished Mr. Emilian Piedicuta. Prior to this, Maria graduated with a First Class M.A. in Performance from the Cork School of Music, where she studied with the renowned Ms. Ruxandra Petcu-Colan.
Maria has appeared as soloist with various orchestras, performing concertos of Mozart, Bach, and Locatelli. She has performed as soloist in Norway, and in Ireland with the Kilkenny Youth Orchestra, and looks forward to performing Mozart D major violin concerto in London in January 2010.
She has worked with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Irish Film Orchestra, Wexford Opera Festival Orchestra, Opera2005, and the Dusseldorf Sinfoniker, and was the 2008 recipient of the RDS Music Bursary. Maria is grateful to the Arts Council of Ireland for supporting her performance studies.
